— A Special Note about printing Travel Savvy News Articles —

Every so often, one of our writers would like to print a copy of their articles for their files only to discover that the header image (and/or the photographs) do not appear! That's annoying, since the page heading for TSN is a key component in identifying the the source of the article.

Please understand that the "missing image" aspect of printing a page does not represent a problem with the website. It is an "issue" with the way some web browsers (most notably Microsoft's Internet Explorer [IE] ) are set up.

Fortunately, this "problem" can be remedied fairly easily.

The following instructions may appear a bit vague and you may have to "hunt around" for the exact location of this setting, because we don't know the the exact version of IE you are using. Despite that caveat, all version of IE work pretty much the same way, so these instructions should apply most of the time.

Here is how to setup IE to print the header (and all images) on pages (takes less time to do than describe):

  • While IE is open, click the Tools menu option (top of screen) and click the Internet options... entry.

  • On the window that appears, click the Advanced tab at the top of the panel.

  • Scroll down the list of options until you see an setting for Printing.

  • There should be a check box present with a label reading something like: Print background colors and images.

  • Put a check mark in that box.

  • Click the Apply button, then the OK button to save the settings and close the screen.

  • Close and restart the web browser.

  • The images and colors should print just fine.

Caution:

Once set up -- every website page printed will be printed with all colors and images! This could use up a LOT of ink when printing a page from a site that has gone "overboard" with their design!

You may need to "turn off" image printing for some over-done websites. (Just follow the steps above and remove the checkmark).

If this problem occurs with another type of web browser, please consult that browser's documentation for the steps required to include images when a page is printed. (At least you know what to look for!)
