PACIFIC GROVE, Calif.) – November 13, 2008 – Seven Gables Inn, one of California's most stunningly romantic Inns, puts lovers' getaways back in the budget during these challenging economic times with a 20% savings in rates. The only meticulously restored survivor of a parade of large, Victorian-era showy homes built on the Monterey Bay ocean front in Pacific Grove, Seven Gables Inn provides relaxation and romance amid grandeur and elegance.
Available through April 30, 2009, Monday to Thursday, guests will enjoy savings ranging from $40 to $110 per night depending on the guest room selected. An extensive breakfast and sunset wine and cheese reception are included.
The 25 room Seven Gables Inn combines the authentic grandeur of Victorian and Edwardian-era mansions, with romantic, individually appointed guest rooms, modern amenities, delicious cuisine and exquisite personal service with some of the world's most dramatic, beautiful ocean views. Each guest room, the sun porch and dining room overlooks Lover's Point and the ever changing ocean with glimpses of blue, grey and humpback whales, dolphins, otters, seals and even egrets perched on the undulating kelp beds.
Original construction dates back to 1886. In the early 1900s, the home's owners added considerably to the original structure, saluting their Massachusetts origins and love for author Nathaniel Hawthorne's book, The House of the Seven Gables. In the 1980s, the Flatley family, the imposing mansion's fourth owners, embarked on an extensive and loving restoration turning the family's home into one of California's first bed and breakfast inns. Ten years later, Grand View, the neighboring mansion, joined Seven Gables after a top-to-bottom renovation that restored the Edwardian home's original elegance and majesty.
Each individually named guestroom, suite or cottage is distinctly decorated with singular antiques and artwork from around the world and overlooks Monterey Bay and the Pacific Ocean beyond. Many rooms include a fireplace; all rooms include modern bathrooms with personal care amenities and luxurious feather beds. In keeping with the Inn's decades-long commitment to quiet relaxation, guest rooms do not have telephones or radios; only two cottages include televisions. Attentive, but unobtrusive guest service is proudly provided by the long-tenured staff.
A sumptuous complimentary breakfast is served daily in the magnificent dining room, with most items prepared each morning by the Inn's Chef. An extensive wine and cheese reception, pairing local vintages with hard-to-find cheeses and local fruits is offered each evening in the parlor as the sun sets over the Pacific Ocean.
The Inn is set amidst beautiful flower gardens, carefully planted and maintained to ensure nearly year-round blooms. Even the massive trumpet vine is historic, dating back nearly 100 years. Cozy benches and chairs are tucked throughout, promising a restful, romantic, floral retreat. Seven Gables Inn has been designated by American Historic Inns as "One of the 10 Most Romantic Inns In America."
The charming community of Pacific Grove is adjacent to Monterey and Carmel. For reservations and information please call 831 372 4341. The reduced rate does not include taxes and is not available November 27, Dec. 21, 2008 through January 3, 2009 and February 16, 2009.
