We're hoping you'll have a happy April Fool's Month---no foolin'. Spring sprouts fresh ideas, and more additions to Travel Savvy News. We appreciate the input from our survey, and will leave it on for another month for those of you who haven't had a chance to respond.

Mid-March we initiated the Product of the Month segment. The laminated map place mats we are currently offering make a great gift for kids ages 2-12 . Start their love and curiosity about travel early, making the learning process fun. Easily cleaned and reusable.

We are also featuring a Book Selection for April. John H. Manhold's EL TIGRE, an award finalist for Best Books and Indie Excellence. This fast paced, well researched historical novel takes you from Prussia to Spain and then the Americas, spinning an exciting tale that includes the gold laden frontier of California wound together with dangerous adventure and even a little romance. It will keep you on edge until the last page is devoured and teach you multitudes about the early frontier.

Corinne Brown and Howard Hian, both regular contributors, join in this month's fun. Corinne gives you an insider's view of The Buckhorn Exchange in Denver, favored eatery and watering hole of such famed old timers as Buffalo Bill Cody and still going strong today. Howard Hian, with his California Connections article offers new slants for travel to the Golden State.

Oregon's 150th birthday party continues to grow. Pendleton, Or joins in the statewide sesquicentennial celebration May 7-9 with the second annual Cattle Barons' Weekend. Specifically planned to celebrate Oregon150, an invitation only exhibit of 18 Oregon Western women artists all, will present IN THE COMPANY OF COWGIRLS, at Hamley's in their Cattle Barons Salon throughout the weekend. See Oregon Highlights for more details and other events planned for the weekend.

Spring is a perfect time to visit Fort Smith, Arkansas. The flowers are budding, the Victorian homes are all dressed up like grand old dames headed to Sunday tea. The frontier flavor of this town is still in tact. Steeped in western history it is as though time stood still. If you're lucky you might even meet Madam Laura,'s understudy, Miss Laura, while at the Visitors Center, which was once her famed brothel. Featured Destinations tells the whole story.

Thanks for all your interest, and may your travels be safe and stimulating.
