Happy New Year - 2009!

Hello and Happy New Year!  TRAVEL SAVVY NEWS  is  open again and proud our web master Geek, Chuck Montgomery, www.HirMon.com ,   kept  his  promise to have us improved and up and running again by January 14.

We hope the changes we've made will increase your enjoyment of TRAVEL SAVVY NEWS.  The contributing writers beside myself still  include feature writers   Corinne J. Brown, Howard Hian, and Barbara Barton Sloane, along with blurbs from various media contacts.

Note we're running another SWEEPSTAKES.  The Pendleton blanket, custom designed to celebrate HAMLEY & CO.'s 100th year, is truly a prize.  The colors, the quality, and the design are uniquely Pendleton and Hamley.  Sign up now to take your chances in the March 1, 2009 drawing (See the poster to the right - or click here to register now!).

Just across the St. Lawrence from the USA,  French speaking Quebec is beckoning with its annual Winter Carnaval.   A touch of Europe so close to home works wonders for the budget.

Barbara Barton Sloane offers her second segment on "A Slice of the Big Apple - Part 2." New York bound? You'll want to read this for sure.

Always the optimist,  Corinne J. Brown lets you in on her secrets for comfort in Denver when she's knee deep in snow,   and  Howard Hian gives you his 10 good reasons to travel NOW.

Oregon Highlights this month contains information on Oregon's 150th Birthday, beginning February 14. plus  the bargain prices at the plush new NINES HOTEL in the renovated Meier & Frank building in downtown Portland.   Take advantage as these prices which  may never be seen again as you plan to celebrate Oregon's sesquicentennial in person, on site. For more information, click here.

The newly added map detail lets you know where you are, and what's in the archives on  a particular  location.  In my estimation, a great improvement.

Circulation of TRAVEL SAVVY NEWS is growing each month, and we hope to keep it that way. Check in often, as new information can appear overnight.

Take some time to browse this 'New Look.'

Let us know your opinions by using the 'Contact Us'  page.   We really want to know what you think of this new design.  Let us know if you like us, and well, let us know if you don't too.   We will take all comments under consideration.

It's only mid-January, but in spite of the gloomy economic news,  we think it's a travel buyers market., and we hope to bring you many suggestions to help you along.

May you make 2009 one of your best years.

Ann Terry Hill
