The Chisum Challenge Ranch Rodeo Cattle Drive is on!!

We went to the rodeo committee meeting to pitch our proposal again and it was accepted so here’s what it will look like.

Unlike our usual cattle drives (and 6 day ranch stays) where you arrive on Sunday afternoon and depart on Saturday, the Chisum Challenge Cattle Drive will be Monday afternoon arrival, Oct. 1 and Sunday morning departure October7.This is so you can attend both Friday and Saturday night performances of the rodeo.

Here is a brief itinerary:

Oct. 1

• Monday-afternoon arrivaland fit everyone to their horses

• Tuesday-gather cattle, sort and pen in a small pasture the ones to be driven to andused in the rodeo

• Wednesday- ride to the pasture and gather the cattle, drive them the 1st leg to 1st campsite (approx. 10 miles)

• Thursday-drive cattle to 2nd set of pens and ride back to camp (total riding for this day approx. 20 miles)

• Friday-ride to pens and drive cattle to rodeo arena, help rodeo personnel prepare cattle for the rodeo, attend 1st performance

• Saturday-breakfast at camp, return to ranch for the day (via pick-up), hot showers, relax, then back to the 2nd performance and last night at camp

• Sunday-breakfast at camp and farewells

This is the first cattle drive like this, so there are still a few unknowns, but we’re looking forward to it and excited about being able to offer you the opportunity to be a part of it.

As with all our cattle drives we provide you with a cowboy bedroll, cots, cowboy teepees and hearty campfire/Dutch oven meals.You just need to bring your cowboy duds!We take between 10-12 adult riders on our drives and the cost is $1,710.00 per person plus tax.We require a 20% deposit upon booking to guarantee your spot on the drive and accept all the major credit cards for your convenience.If you want in on this drive let us know.The spots go on a first deposit received basis and are beginning to come in.

[If there is enough interest we are also considering driving the cattle home the following week (back to back drives).If you would like to sign up for both weeks (Oct 1-13) we will offer it to you at $3,000.00 plus tax.This 2nd drive will only happen with at least 5 riders booked for it by Sept. 1.Otherwise, we will truck them home Sunday afternoon, Oct. 7.(If you want to reserve a spot on both drives and it turns out we don’t have enough for the 2nd drive, the difference you paid will be reimbursed.)]
