1,000 Places to See Before You Die

by Patricia Schultz

/This popular book has been out since 2007, but I think it is worth reminding you of its value—not only to yourself but perhaps as a Holiday Gift for one of your traveling friends. As Schultz says, ‘There are so many places, so little time.” Covering the United States and Canada by region, this paperback will fire your imagination of places to go, little known things to visit, and refresh your planning to include the obscure along with the obvious.

From historic Saratoga Springs in New York, to Athens and the ArtFest in Georgia; the Blues Highway #61 that led musicians and sharecroppers out of the South to St. Louis and Memphis creating the immergence of song and guitar playing that are treasured today. Or on to the West thru Texas Hill Country, Mexican Hat and Cedar Mesa, to the West Coast, California, Oregon and Washington. And believe me, there are hundreds of suggestions in-between. Alaska and Hawaii have their own special chapters.

Eastern and Western Canada are broken into sections: New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Nunavut, Ontario, Prince Edward Island and Quebec in the east. The west covers British Columbia, Manitoba, Northwest Territories and Saskatchewan and the Yukon.

(Great read for the curious and intrepid traveler. It really plants the seed of desire in the traveler.

Ann Terry Hill)
