If cruising is not your thing., consider this winter rail trip in Colorado as an alternative:

Railroad Through the Rockies in Mid-Winter Splendor! By Corinne J. Brown

Few travel deals are good as this sure-fire way to beat the mid-winter blahs. If you’re headed to Colorado, consider booking passage on the Amtrak train that runs daily from Denver to beautiful Glenwood Springs. Skip the traffic that leads to the Eisenhower Tunnel, as well as those icy roads, and sit back in ease and comfort in the second-story coach seats that offer the loftiest views of winter’s high country majesty. Take your camera, or relax and nod off to the soothing music of the rails.

Snacks and beverages, as well as menu selections, are yours in the lounge and dining cars during this six-hour passage that leaves each morning from Denver’s Union Station at 8:05, arriving at 1:53. Departures each day leave at 12:50 in the afternoon, arriving in Denver around 7:18 p.m. Once in Glenwood, you’ll stay at the historic Hotel Colorado, a short walk from the thermal waters of Glenwood Springs naturally-heated outdoor pool and minutes from the slopes of nearby Sunlight Mountain Resort. Package deals include round-trip travel and transfers, plus lodging at the Hotel Colorado, standard room, king or queen beds, for $165.00 per person for one night, or $222.00 for two nights. Both offers include a one day Hot Springs pool pass and train-to-hotel transfers.

Some date restrictions apply. For more info contact www.rmatours.com,  303-759-4600 or 1-800-841-9800.
